Two aid workers die in Mexico in an ambush on a humanitarian convoy

A Finnish international observer and a Mexican director of an NGO were killed in an ambush on a humanitarian convoy with observers, activists and journalists in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The number of wounded is not yet confirmed. Seven of the 40 members of the convoy's whereabouts are unknown.

Donors were bound for San Juan Copala (Mexico) to provide food and basic necessities to the Triquis indians, who have been surrounded for two weeks by the paramilitary group UBISORT. This organization opened fire on security guards and the doctors who came to the scene to provide assistance to the wounded.

The NGO that owns the caravan is Mexican League for the Defense of Human Rights. His spokesman, Gabriel Bagundo, believes that the missing have been kidnapped by his attackers. Till this moment they have only found the caravan vehicles.
