Alfonso Lopez Borgoñoz has been named the new president of Amnesty International Spain in the course of the Federal Assembly held on 24 and 25 April.
This activist has been more than 16 years working with the organization. During this time, he has become president of the Executive Committee of Amnesty International in Catalonia. During the past year, he developed his duties as vice president of the Federal Executive Committee of the Spanish Section. In this role, he has collaborated in the fight against the cuts of freedom, impunity, torture and ill-treatment.
This archaeologist and historian of science replaced as president of the organization to Itziar Ruiz-Gimenez, who held the post since 2008.
